If anyone is curious why we have rules about what happens when you skip out on your “yes” RSVP or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, let me tell you about the debacle that was Saturday night's picnic and movie at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery...
Four hours before Saturday's event 7 people were coming, three hours before the event only 4 were coming, and when the event actually happened only 1 other person showed up! Aside from annoying me by making me pointlessly hold prime movie viewing real estate, aside from just annoying me by changing the tone of the evening, such no showing and last minute RSVP changing often cheats others out of a chance to come, discourages them from bothering to RSVP, or doesn't give them enough time to act on their wait list approval. So, just a reminder, there is a $10 penalty for no showing or for canceling within 24 hours! No excuses will be accepted, not horrific personal tragedies, not monstrous acts of god, not emergency room-requiring sickness. It's not that I don't have profound sympathy for individual situations, it's that there's no reason I should burden myself with sitting in judgment over valid versus invalid excuses. It's just $10. ^Quinxy |
